
A large scale 250mw wind project located on the highest peaks of Mt. McDonald and Smith Island southeast of Port Edward, BC. A turbine supplier has not been selected however it is assumed that each WTG will be between 1.8 and 2.5mw’s. There are currently 2 80 metre lattice towers on the site, one on Mt. McDonald and the other on Smith Island. Both towers are returning strong wind data for close to 2 years.

RPPH has close and beneficial working relationships with First Nations in the area of the Mt. McDonald Wind Project. The Lax Kw'alaams and Metlakatla are working closely with RPPH to ensure that the project is able to proceed through to development. These working relationships have benefits for all First Nation’s communities in the region. The project is an economic driver for the north coast and will help to create new jobs both in the construction and the operation of the wind farm. The approximate capital costs for the development of the project are $1 Billion.
